I am very much enjoying my current PBM obsession...Galac-Tac.  While I have thanked Davin for his generosity, helpfulness, and the stellar level of service provided by his company (Talisman Games), I have not yet expressed my gratitude to the man whose hard work introduced me to Galac-Tac.

Without the numerous Suspense & Decision issues featuring Galac-Tac articles and ads I would never have heard of Galac-Tac.  Without this forum, I would not have known about Davin's generous offer to play for free during these hard economic times.  

I want to offer an overdue "Thank You" to Grimfinger.  Without his efforts, I would not be enjoying Galac-Tac and Talisman Games would have one less player...

In my solo game, I have been playing around with different patrol boat sizes such as the following classification...

I cannot imagine why these patrol boats will not fit into an empty CV1A that is located at the same location.  They have no star drives, drones, cargo spaces or hangar bays. 
They are SSD 2. EDIT (Is this the reason for the error message?  The patrol boats are the same SSD as the carrier?)

Any help is appreciated!

I see that several players have already picked up their starting reports.  I hope that everyone likes their new galactic positions!

Please feel free to talk about your play and learning experiences on the forum here, but be cautious about publicly revealing any secret information about your empire (such as specific star locations) that may later be used against you.

Once you start bumping into other empires you'll be able to send them diplomatic messages on the web site, to make threats or offers or whatever, empire-to-empire without revealing your personal identity.

Feel free to ask any questions you have here, too.  Other players may want to know the same answers that you do, or may have answers for you themselves.

I am very much enjoying my solo game of Galac-Tac!  Thank you for all the wonderful tips/advice you have given me since I started.
Normally, I would just shoot you an email with the following question.  However, I am going to post it here so others may see and learn from your answer.

I want to order the two starting skirmisher ships to form a fleet and defend my home system using the following actions.

23 Join 2201 2202
24 Defend 2201 2202

When I told GTac to check my orders, it said...
"Ship #2202 has been given multiple orders in action #s 23 & 24"

Do I need to create the fleet on this turn and issue the DEFEND order next turn?  Or since 2201 is my flagship of that fleet, do I simply order it to DEFEND (deleting the 2202 entry on the DEFEND order)?

I plan to use the FX freighter that created a colony to pickup 10 PV and shuttle it back to my home system.  Once I create some larger freighters, I intend to have them shuttle the PV instead.  How do I cancel an existing "Shuttle" action?

This is what you should tell everyone:

The changes:

50 turns processed before the game starts -- processed with empty kingdoms, i.e., aggressive kingdom maintenance. Kingdoms may be forced into exile as a result of this.
Tsotha-lanti will be added to Koth's characters on turn 1 with specified stats and # times for spells. I'll watch as it runs and resurrect him if he dies so that he will still be in the game on turn 51.

Players will receive the turn 50 results with a set due date for turn 51. This means that they can not delay submitting their orders for weeks or months as they do with other organized games.

This game charge will be be the normal charge with the regular $8 setup fee. All kingdoms must play at least 10 turns and may drop thereafter.

That is what you should tell the players.

Let me know when you have the 36 kingdoms filled and I'll get it going.
