Hey Jon,
We're really only using the Canvas, Cross-Document Messaging and Client-side Storage. We're not planning on using features for the sake of using them. Only where they are going to benefit the game.
We made a decision not to cater for today's browsers but for future browsers. The game won't be ready for beta testing until the end of this year and we suspect won't have a full set of features until the end of 2012.
Microsoft are behind the curve with it comes to Html5, but IE9 has come a long way. Our game will support IE9. Currently most of the other browsers already have HTML5 functionality that we plan on implementing so we're really not that concerned.
By the time Ilkor is in full swing (18+ months from now) we believe more than 65% of the browser market will support the Html5 features we intend on using. That figure will obviously climb. People are upgrading their browsers much quicker and more frequently than before and with just about all browsers now offering an auto version detect and update it makes the job even easier.
Cheers,
Sean.

You say you are using a lot of HTML5 - even IE9 only supports some of the standards - how are you dealing with that?
