Registering with KJC Games Troubles
#7

I recently decided, after many years, to try playing It's A Crime again and can't wait to get started.

But it has been a real struggle to get any kind of response from KJC. After many emails, I was finally told that I was on the list for the next game. I have tried following up to find out if they've got a start date or if there are any takeover gangs I could start with whilst waiting. But it just seems to be impossible to get a response. All I want is a simple email letting me know what's going on.

It's a real shame but if something doesn't happen soon I think I'll have to look elsewhere for my gaming fix.

On which note, does anyone have any suggestions for a good It's A Crime replacement to satiate my gaming needs?

Cheers

A game started 10 weeks ago. I can confirm this, because I am in it. This game appears to have a lot of drops and it is free to play the standard 4 orders per turn (you have to pay a small fee for double orders).

The customer service is awful. I went through the same as you when I initially signing up. No response for a long time. Apparently, they put you on a list and then when a game is ready to start months later, they send everyone an email telling them they are in the game.

Their forums are dead. It is IMPOSSIBLE to join the forums. I'm not kidding. I tried to join multiple times but kept getting denied. Now that I am actively in a game, I am still unable to join. There is an in-game message board that nobody uses, but that is it as far as communication goes. I think that every successful PBM or PBeM game still running has one thing in common: they have a strong online community that gathers at particular website to discuss the game. By providing a forum that new players cannot access, they not only give the appearance that nobody plays any of their games anymore, but they make certain that no sense of online community can develop.

I'm not really enjoying the game, truth be told, but I'm continuing playing the free turns in the hopes that it gets more interesting later on or I can provide enjoyment for another player playing the game. After all, it takes about 15 minutes per week to read the turn and submit orders.

Good luck, sorry I don't have better news for you.
