Fallen Empires PBE

Hi all,

We've been running our PBE game (Fallen Empires) for about a year and a half now and have just launched V.2. Its a fantasy game that uses spread sheets to build equipment and buy goods and Word documents to give actions, as well as having a map to move around and interact with.

The game currently has two options for players - Tribes and Settlements. Both have progressed well since V.1. We're looking to add new player run options in the near future, including Sea Raiders and Mercenaries, which will eventually lead to Political Figures who have control over multiple types.

The game is currently running at a two weekly turn around for the turns, and had been running at weekly throughout V.1. Turns cost £2 each and set up and first turn are free.

What' the difference in Tribes and Settlements?

Is there any documentation available for download?

Tribes are mobile and roam the countryside, trading, fighting etc and settlements are embryo cities needing walls to be built and growing to be a fully fledged city.

The Iron Storm tribe, lead by the Great Chief Thundervein has finally been recognised as a civilised society in the known region of Clantium.

I've been playing the game since day 1 and would highly recommend it. Reliable turnaround, very good prices, 2 GM's who produce turns and battle reports to very high standards. Most importantly however they listen to players and are open to suggestions for improvements and chagnges to the game mechanics for the good of the game.

The spreadsheets cover the basic game mechanics of the game - ie trading, researching, tribal status (size / breakdown) but the game really comes into it own by the use of the 1 major action and 2 minor actions which you present each turn in free form text format, which in reality are only limited to your imagination and the tech levels within the game.

As touched on above currently 2 types of positions a tribe and settlement, having played both they offer different challenges and oppurtunities.

We have had quite a number of players join in the past few weeks and more are always welcome.

Political Figures running cities are almost ready to add to Tribes or Settlements

I have a question about these battle reports. Are the reports posted there just the reports for one player? Or is everyone getting the same report?

The Battle reports cover all the players and all get copies of the reports. They are posted to get interest for the game and give people a feel of what is going on

Fallen Empires PBEM has just published the instructions for players wanting to apply for Political Figure positions. They will start placing the PF positions in September. Looks good, adding another dimension to the world. The positions include city leader, land mercinary (bandit or other), and sea mercinary (pirate, mercinary).
It will be interesting to see how this changes the dynamics of tribal activity, which should be the center of the game.
