Turn-Based Gaming Monthly

Grim, I'd go for the first option in you long list: But leave out the "Monthly". Turn-based Gaming is enough, short and snappy. I don't think its necessary to specify if it is postal, email, or on-line gaming, all these are varieties anyway of the core definition. How often it is published is also not necessary to specify, leave it flexible.

I tend to agree with Greybeard that the magazine name should be kept simple or at least to have a simple tagline on a more exotic name.

i.e.
Final Stand: The Turn Based Gaming Magazine

A sub-title, or tag-line is a good idea, Smurphboogie. I'd go with the one you suggest, whatever Grimfinger may finally decide as a title.

Okay, I posted these to another thread before I realized my mistake.

Some suggestions for the name the magazine mix...

PBM Gamer (admittedly a name I had planed to use for a PBM magazine a couple years ago, but still a good name)
PBM Review
PBM World
PBM Archive
PBM R Us
PBM Survey
PBM Files
PBM ...

You get the idea. :-)

I thought I'd regurgitate this ancient thread, both for fun and as a way of floating names for my mini-zine idea. This will be a small zine, done as something like a companion to S&D, with a scope extending beyond PBM stuff. It will work off the "slow gaming" concept recently discussed around here -- heavy, involved gaming experiences, wherever they may be found. PBM is part of that scope, but so is the euro-boardgame movement, certain PC games and MMOs, and even fantasy sports.

Some name ideas:
- PROG Gaming (Proactive-Reflective Organized Gameplay) or just PROG
- Fin Whale (ancient, mostly submerged, asymmetric markings, high momentum)
- Ixnay's Editorial Dispatch
- PONG (Pictures from Outside Neural Gaming or some other such acronym)

Possible sub-titles:
- gaming at the speed of thought
- gaming for the heavily caffeinated

any thoughts? rotten tomatoes?

Ixnay,

Because you're looking for a broader scope, maybe something more generic in nature like "Cerebral Games" or "Ponderous Gaming" might work well for you ... although "gaming for the heavily caffeinated" works very well for me!
