[NEW PBM STYLES] PBMB -- Play By Message Board?
#1
I don't think that there's much discussion of this here but I have seen a number of RPG boards successfully conduct games using their forum software.

The most notable ones (for our purposes, at least) are probably:
  • RPG.net's "RPGnet Roleplaying Games" sub-forum.
  • Vin's T&T TrollBridge (you'll have to scroll down to the "Online T&T Games!" section).
  • The gone-but-not-forgotten-and-preserved-in-the-Wayback-Machine Paranoia Live (PBMB version of the old West End Games classic dystopian SF RPG, Paranoia).
So, there are three possible area for discussion:
  1. Do playbymail.net members know of other successful implementations of PBMB?
  2. What numbers would be necessary to do this kind of thing here? Not necessarily just RPGs--I can imagine people submitting their turns for other kinds of games by private message, getting personalized results by private message, and having visible results posted to the messageboard.
  3. Errrmmmm ... anything else that occurs to you.
Anyone?
