It would seem to me that freely available rules downloads could only help the popularity and longevity of a game.

Yea, I agree Confused

I'm willing to pay for a game, but only if I know what I'm getting myself into.

Well, this is something I've gone around and around about.

On the one hand, the rules are a pretty big profit point for us.

On the other hand, as you say, people like to know what they're in for.

Right now, you can download the first rules supplement (and errata, *sigh*) for free, which will give you a bit of a taste.

In future, I think the model will be free rules, and then a cost for the campaign guide(s), but we're probably a year from that point.

Awesome! I'm very excited to see past the giant paywall. The lore and player stories are very intriguing.

Well,
I paid 45 euro for the rulebook AND the campaign guide.
Also I have paid 25 dollars for 3 turns.

It is a lot of money to get started in the game.

ACK!!! That's an exceptionally large entry barrier. Hopefully, you will still derive value from playing the game.

Crikey. That is about $90. For comparison:
A decade ago I played Everquest and Ultima Online for 9 months and spent $90.
Today, you could play WoW or EVE Online, or one of the other various MMOs, for 6 months before spending $90.

Getting the books from the USA to the Netherlands will be a part of the total amount of money. But it is a lot.
From what I have read I think it is worth it.
Its a bit like buying a new rulebook for a new roleplaying game system..
