Ancient Empires
#1
Ancient Empires is a game I am currently working to join. I have only skimmed the rules a this point bit it appears to be a strategy resource game with leaders. The GM (Jason) is very responsive and the game looks good, I am hoping for a new game to start within 3 weeks.

Mini-Rant: I realize many GMs aren't professional web developers or designers, but do they all really lack any sort of aesthetic commonsense? I clicked that link and was assaulted by the atrocious black and red text on a very busy background. It's difficult for me to even give the game the time of day. You don't need a visually stunning or professionally designed website to attract players, you need something functional and usable. I would be embarrassed to tell my friends I played that game and then send them that link (give, many of my friends are in the software engineering industry). Just because you can use neat background images, a myriad of colors, and fancy flash buttons, doesn't mean you should!

Anyways, the Ancient Empires page is at least readable. I'm glad he didn't take the crazy design to the rule book.

After a quick read through, the game doesn't particularly strike my fancy. I like the realistic economy, but it seems like managing the economy is the main focus of the game. Although the existence of "Royal Proclamations" might make things interesting. Also, why the arbitrary limit on 5 allies?
