Terry, I want you to know that I appreciate you finding your way back to the site. The place just wouldn't be the same without you.

We need to learn more about Saturnalia, certainly. I never tried it. What distinguished it from other play by mail games? I recall encountering some old ads in magazines that advertised it to the masses.

Well I played the original saturnalia with its distintive red turn sheets. I think I found it when I was running the role playing hobby for the apprenctices in the army where I was an instructor. It was free for 2 turns so I had ago and liked it. I liked the idea of having a character that you controlled and roamed the land doing deeds bad or good. (I was into fantasy books then in a big way, The Magican beinf my favourite) Played for about 2 years before being posted over seas and endless exercises and detachments made it impossible to keep playing it. Still RP'd with mates in the camp taking over whole rooms in the block to play massive battles over an entire weekend!
Returned to UK and joined a few sci fi games which really did not rock my boat, tried PIP a Roman game were I made 2 good friends and eventually moved onto LGDR about 14 years ago and played in games 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and now 8.
