Shimeril - shimeril - 02-13-2011

I vaguely remember doing this before... Smile

Have more nicknames than I care to remember but the most infamous have been Axe, Thor, Midnight, The Adelaide Assassin and Qadir. I've been in PBM since 1984 in Australia with Kevin Flynn's Australian Wizard. Peter Catling's Roma Games and Peter Read's Dynamic Games mostly. Now I'm reduced to online cricket management games, Olympia Game 3 and I'm still planning on running Roma Games' excellent Dino Wars in house for my wife and kids to play (whenever I find the time).

I produced the Medokh Murmurs newsletter for Keys of Medokh in Australia, wrote articles for Oz PBM newsletters, Breakout magazine and was for a short period of time Associate Ed of Australian Flagship. I still have my PBM Bastard of the Year trophy from 1995's Flagship Awards ceremony in Canberra (which a certain John Tindall was at I should add) on my computer desk as well as trophies for win at face-to-face Trolls Bottom - much more fun than via the post or email.

Played lots and lots of different PBM's - that's for another time perhaps.

We need a photo of that trophy, Shimeril. Also, welcome back to the site.

Your PBM gaming history is from the perspective of a whole different world from my own. We really need you to just starting talking via writing, so that we may capture a few of your tales from PBM's past on that side of our planet.

Ahh, never saw that response. Trophies you want, then trophies you get.

I know there were a million PBM cons in the UK and US during the heyday's of PBM but were the many live face to face sessions? I know Trolls Bottom (via Peter Read's Dynamic Games) and Adventurer Kings (via Kevin Smith's Opcon Games) got a lot of live action in Australia during the early to mid 90's. Brilliant fun, and by Peter running his at SAGA, CanCon, Conquest and other Cons we would get people who had never played a PBM come along and try them out. We'd teach them for the first few sessions, then slaughter them later. Nicely of course.

<insert evil laugh here>

edit: I did have 3 other trophies and the Bastard certificate in here too but only 1 image per post rule is on. I'll post the certificate below, won't worry about the rest.

...and the certificate...

Very nice souvenirs from PBM's past, right there!

Just post other photos in other postings, or use the attach file feature. I can change the allowed number, if needed.
