RE: Factional Redesign of The Getham - DreamWeaver - 01-03-2020

• Factional Name:
The Getham Family

•The primary purpose for the faction to exist?

Setting up trade between cities and setting up very large and diverse markets that offer a lot of products.  The enjoy running and developing cities and greatly increasing the regions around them, including a road system to further increase the value to a city and it's market. They are a steward to the region and it's cities and enjoy Public Speacking to swap the population and reading their moods and dealing with their concerns.

•What distinguishing feature does this faction have?

They are not combat based, but rather culture and economic base side of live. They are willing to work with anyone as long as they will allow the flow of commerce freely across the lands and seas. They are willing to hire Mercs to defend or fight for them.

• What specific in-game benefit can this faction have?

The Getham Trade office increases the overall size of a cities market size per each office in the city
The GTO allows up to 1000 units per office to be Imported/exported into the city as needed.
The GTO adds Uniforms, Winter Uniforms and Pack Animals as items sold on the cities markets. Note that Pack Animals with all their leather caring bags/straps carry twice as much as a horse would.

•What makes this faction interesting and fun to play?

The Getham clans makes a perfect City leader clan or a clan interested in the market place play They do not focus on just combat, but rather open up other sides of the Roleplaying side of in game play, with the culture that is Midgard and beyond,

•What (usually mutual) factional enemies?
Barbarians, Bandits, Pirates

RE: Factional Redesign of The Getham - Davin - 01-03-2020

Question:  What kind of mechanism would they use, for instance, to help city markets to become more diverse?  Would it be something hidden in the model, for instance?  Or perhaps they would role-play interactions with the CL (if not their own) to encourage them to develop more kinds of production?  Perhaps they may intervene directly with clans by offering tasks to them for the delivery of specific products from place to place?  Or what?  This question probably also applies to making changes to quantities of products already available.

Ok the 'City Model' has values that can be tinkered with in the code that set the amount of products that are available on the market. Then the number of GTO as part of their Factional Office bonus of being in the city could also add a +2% bonus to the overall size of the market. Add to if their are any linked by roads other cities, or Sea routes linking this city with another.  Plus in Zan's version of the game he was adding in 'other' items onto markets based more on regions that may or may not be available in other cities.Plus add in some of these other items that are created by factions because of their Factional Offices like:

Imperial:
- Great Shields
- Heavy Siege Weapons
Boda:
- War Dogs
- HM
Getham:
- Uniforms
- Winter Uniforms
- Pack Animals
Roder:
- War Horses
- Spices

Other products, to name a few:
- Kegs of Ale
- Kegs of Beer
- Kegs of Rum
- Elephants
- Drugs
- Medicine
- Poison
- Herbs
- kegs of Salt
- barrels of Coal
- Kegs of Oil
- Marble
- Barrels & Kegs
- Sailcloth
- Fabric
- Exotic Items

Ok, so it's completely internal to the model. I'll keep that in mind, but we may want to have some options for interactive play as well.

RE: Factional Redesign of The Getham - DreamWeaver - 01-07-2020

Game play idea...

Now I know that Davin wants to talk about Skills later on but sorry that does set the mode for what you play and how you play. I do understand Davin's need to get the rest of the game mechanics up and running first, but without the Skill system then there will be a major problem.

Now what I will do is one of my clans will end up playing a Getham declared clan.

I will start this clan as a Independent clan:

<Independent Clan Name> :
LDR: ENT-2, ORA-1, REC-1, STW-1, MER-1
  F1: SPY-1
  F2: ENG-1, ADM-1
  F3: SCT-1

Now I would setup up the skills first as a Independent clan, then declare for Getham and play it as one of my clans durring the Beta-Test process. Then it has been proposed that we will get a bonus for playing in the Beta Test to our clans. I am hoping that will be +points to skill levels, +crowns, and +influence as a starting bonus for each clan you run.  I would hpe that we can get at least +2 skill points/levels and then I would apply them to the clan as followed:

<Getham Clan Name> :
LDR: ENT-3, ORA-1, REC-1, STW-1, MER-1
  F1: SPY-2
  F2: ENG-1, ADM-1
  F3: SCT-1
Then next I would spend the time to have all my characters (Ldr,F1,F2,F3) training (+1 MER), followed next by (+1 STW). That shoud take another (12) Turns/cycles and I should then have a skill set of:

<Getham Clan Name> :
LDR: ENT-3, ORA-1, REC-1, STW-2, MER-2
  F1: SPY-2, MER-1, STW-1
  F2: ENG-1, ADM-1, MER-1, STW-1
  F3: SCT-1, MER-1, STW-1

I would use many Special Actions to roleplay and dig into many different matters. This clan would be a Getham Merchant/Entertainer/Explorer and it might even try to be a City Leader as well too.

RE: Factional Redesign of The Getham - DreamWeaver - 01-22-2020

Skills:

MER - Merchant
ADM - Admin
ORA - Oratory
STW - Streetwise
BRB - Bribery
REC - Recruitment
ENG - Engineering

Ok for me I can relate pest to a clan by looking at the skill list that the characters might have;

LDR: MER-1, ADM-1, ORA-1, BRB-1,STW-1,REC-1
  F1: MER-1
  F2: MER-1
  F3: MER-1, ENG-1

With this skill set this would make this clan a perfect clan to be a city leader of any city. The Leader could pretty much do anything need to oversee a City Leadership role, and his followers could be put in charge of man different matters within the city as well. It has been propose to kill off the Gift and somehow merge them into the Getham, but I feel with these skills they would be able to do a lot of different things.

RE: Factional Redesign of The Getham - DreamWeaver - 01-30-2020

Skills:

MER - Merchant
ADM - Admin
ORA - Oratory
STW - Streetwise
BRB - Bribery
REC - Recruitment
PCB - Personal Combat

The Getham are the masters of trade and cities. They seek to expand their control into every city and if they can't control a city, they they seek to master it's trade networks. They want to establish road ways and sea routes connecting all cities together. They want to build a (30) GTOs in every city and if they can't convert the cities to declare for them, then they would like to become city leaders of them all. To master the cities markets gives them a extreme amount of power across the lands. Anything that interferes with that they are against. They are not overly combative in nature but they are willing to pay others to do their fighting if they need be. then look fondly upon the Gift, as they can be extremely usful to increase a cities overall nature. The Ring too are also looked upon on a positive.
