Tasks - Davin - 11-20-2019 I'm expecting tasks (in general) to be fully automated with an assortment of available actions to offer and accept, complete and cancel, negotiate and change, and restrict and target pretty much anything you want done. For instance, construction tasks and sub-tasks are all handled through this mechanism as well. Or perhaps you might want some goods delivered at a particular place and time for which you will pay a specified amount. And if you're got role-playing sorts of things to deal with there are places to fill in arbitrary descriptions where the involved parties must agree on acceptance of completion. For instance, you can offer a task that must be completed by a specific date and the other clan might request a change in that date before (or even after) accepting it. Or you can say that the task is only to be offered to your own factional membership, except for Jim who didn't do a good job for you before. There are lots of options available for fun play. RE: Tasks - DreamWeaver - 11-20-2019 Hmmm so what about a task like this: TASK > REQUEST > CITY > CITY # > EXOTIC Thus the "EXOTIC" would pull from a "List" that you the GM set up that might be a truly generic listings and maybe a list of specific random "List" for just events / tasks for the map region your in. Example A-4 map region, maybe you come up with a theme or events located with in that region. Example: "Find information on the Bandit Clan know as Ghost". With that in hand the player clan would have to use a number of Special Actions over a couple of turns and then report into the City Leader of that city that offered the task and then complete the task and then wait and see what happens. Maybe they send a 3x5 card in game to the City Leader or maybe they use a Special Action to report the details of what they found or etc. RE: Tasks - Davin - 11-20-2019 (11-20-2019, 06:59 PM)DreamWeaver Wrote: Hmmm so what about a task like this:That's pretty close to what we've designed except that the city would specifically describe what they wanted in their task (with free-form text) and confirm that you gave them what was requested. The content of the request might well be initiated by one of the rumors running around town or by an external event (such as a report of travelers being attacked). To find out more you'll probably have to browse around the suspect area and/or look for deeper rumors or contacts in town on the subject. As I mentioned, we won't be using physical 3x5 cards any more because you'll have direct email-like communications in real time. |
