rules for CW - ixnay - 07-03-2013

Here is a publicly accessible link to the CW rules, in wiki form:

http://empyreanchallenge.com/ECWxManual/

I'll use this thread as a place to discuss them in depth, as needed...

The link does not work for me, when I try it.

Strange -- works for me, even in a newly cleared browser.

They have a PDF version of the rulebook behind the user wall. I'll see if I can get them to post a version outside where we can all see it.

I've tried accessing it, using two different web browsers - Mozilla Firefox and Opera. It worked, now, in both. Go figure. I tried loading it four or five times, the first time around. It may have been due to a server issue.

RE: rules for CW - Darth Pedro - 07-15-2013

I have attempted to generate a new PDF of the manual with the PDF Creator plugin on the Word Press site. I had to delete the old one so the generator would run... it was from two years ago and quite obsolete.

I will continue to work with it to get an up-to-date version and attach it in this forum ASAP. I am having some difficulty as it keeps using the old date and file name which I have deleted, re-edited the parameters, etc. It really is a myopic system but I don't control the platform.

OK it seems to have worked now for some reason. It is still a work in progress obviously. Anyone who has a question about interpretation or clarification of "the rules" please post a comment on the relevant page in the online version. That will send me an e-mail which I will deal with. Many times I must exchange several e-mails with Vern to get the actual meaning defined clearly.

This is an excellent example of the old "PBM is dead! Long live PBM!" meme. EC could never recover it's former place atop the PBM world (along with many others), because the PBM world is all but gone. BUT, it lives on -- and this time the players are moderators are actively collaborating and fine-tuning a beast that shows new signs of strong resurgence in the age of the internetz.

Well done, Vern and Jay, and keep it up!

See updated (corrected) rules for the new Beamer Type Item.

The parameters still show the erroneous values in the Central Command Technology Window.

You're welcome.

Always check the online version, comments column on the left sidebar as anything new will be mentioned there. The BEAMER stuff has already changed.

Indeed. It's just nice to have something I can print out and have in paper form while poking around trying to figure out what to do next.
